Rejected (Shadow Beast Shifters 1) – ARC Review

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Rejected (Shadow Beast Shifters 1) by Jaymin Eve

Holy hot shifter babies!! If this book isn’t on your to-read list…Add. It. Now. Because you are absolutely a billion and two percent going to love it! That’s how confident I am. You can thank me later. 😉

And if you don’t, then maybe I’d be more inclined to believe that the world has truly lost its mind and the intelligence has truly been lost. Lol.

Jaymin’s new world creation is just dang good! I know, not the best descriptor but holy damn. It’s incredible, fabulous, demandingly perfect, but of course tortuous! It’s one of those stories that totally pulls you in and won’t let you go until you’ve finished. I only put this book down when I absolutely had to…and yes, that means you are going to make terrible life decisions… meaning, you’ll most likely keep reading, regardless of the hour. But seriously, you have no control over these decisions. The book is just that good!

I will warn you, that if you finish this book late at night…you may have issues getting sleep. Because Jaymin is totally evil (I say that lovingly, of course). I could say I can’t believe she ended it like that…but well, after reading every book by her…I know she can be downright evil with her endings. But still. Not cool. I’m not one to hold grudges but you are sooo not off the hook just yet.

First, before I get into anything…I have a few things I need to get off my chest.

Gah…this book has made me legit crazy. So much happens in the story. But first…I am not okay with how her pack treats her…man that really hurt my heart…Badly!! They were so cruel. Like, it’s not even her fault! Mera, is paying for her fathers’ mistake…and because of this, she’s an outcast in her own pack, a target to push and beat down…and I was not okay with their douche-baggy-potato ways.

Yes! You did this to my heart Jaymin!

Then, when I thought she’d finally escaped her hellish life…of course, that came crashing down too! And she was dragged right back since they seemed to miss their own personal punching bag. Typical.

On Mera’s first shift, her wolf finds her true mate. And things start getting even crazier here. She at first is filled with a rare hope. A hope that could bring a brighter future for her. But of course, things can’t be simple.

When her chosen mate rejects her, she is filled with unimaginable pain, like her soul is being ripped apart, shattered. In this moment, of pure agony, she somehow touches into the shadow world…through this new veiled vision she sees things that she hadn’t before…and accidentally brushes against these shadow figures, that react to her and run away (important information lol)…but before this happened she reached out to him, the Shadow Beast, to who they (the shifters) were born from. Their Shifter god…and colour us surprised, he responds…finds her. And this is where Mera’s story truly begins. Seems the Shadow Beast needs her. But for how long? Least with this kidnapping, she gets to stay in an epic library? So…

I wanted to make a reference to another beast with a growly disposition, because just like the dude in that movie, the real-life Shadow Beast lived in the freaking library of my dreams.
Actual. Literal. Dreams. But unlike the movie, I would have kicked this guy out in the cold if it meant I got to keep his library.

I guess, it’s time for Mera to walk through the flames and rise from the ashes, like she was always meant to.

He’d get nothing else from me, though. I was forged through years of fire as hot as what he was throwing my way, and whatever game he was playing, I’d play along. But only on the most superficial of levels. Eventually, he’d let his guard down. Eventually, whatever this bulls**t was would come to an end.
When that happened, it would be my time to shine.

This book will bring out every emotion inside you. It’s filled with so much angst, strength and a will to survive against all odds…and no matter what situation Mera found herself in, she never backed down, never gave up and never once stopped fighting for her independence and freedom. Her resilience is something to be admired. I just, honestly, loved her character so much. She was easy to relate to and love…and the other characters, noticed this about her too…and were unable to ignore the natural, magnetic pull she had…even if some took longer to recognise or admit it (yeah dude, you know I’m looking at you!)

I seriously loved a lot about this book…but as usual, my favourite parts come down to the relationships…So, I particularly loved when Mera, found her people and family. She goes through so much and deserved these people in her life. I was really touched with her friendship with Angel. They truly bonded in so many ways and I can’t wait to see this friendship in particular grow. It’s truly beautiful when two people that have been through so much find one another. I feel they are easily going to cause so much trouble together…and I can’t wait to see more of that lol…better watch out boys… Clearly, I have a troublemaker hiding deep down inside me lol. 😂🤷🏻‍♀️…

I actually randomly came across this gif, on my search, and I just had to use it lol…note, I do not drink chamomile tea but it just fit kinda perfectly, for that ending scene…because there was a hella lot of rage flying around. But other than that my lips are sealed. Just be prepared for all the head swinging and being all like WTH?! Some people got a lot-a ‘splaining to do.

I cannot wait to get my hands on the second instalment of this series…coz I’m good and properly hooked! Like crazily so! The world creation was mind-blowingly good and characters were made to absolute perfection. They just felt so real and alive. Once again, Jaymin has blown me away with her work and I cannot wait for you guys to read it! So please make sure you grab yourself a copy of Rejected! It releases tomorrow!

I may, let my earlier comment of Jaymin being evil go…but only once I have more answers and more story lol 😂🙃…so I’m gonna release my minions out into the world girl, to get me this story lol. Because I must have it! Like, I’m bordering on being Gollum right now, with his Precious! 😆

Lucky, Jaymin is used to my crazy-butt and my demanding ways haha. You know you adore me lol. Just had to remind you of that 😆😉

Thanks so much, lovely, for creating yet another world I can fall in love with. Your worlds truly create the perfect escape for me. I’d be even crazier without them! Can you image that? haha

Can I just quickly say, did Mera’s character happen to remind you of a combination of Willa and Maisey? No, just me? Never mind then, carry on lol.

Yes, this book was given to me as an ARC, in place for an honest review…and that is what I have provided…albeit can we really call it a review? 😆 I think Ramble fest is definitely more accurate haha.

Thanks always Ramblers for being with me. Comment below what you are most excited about this book or share your own thoughts once you’ve read. Always love to hear from you guys.

Well, I think that’s all for today. 😂 You better not have done this

Seeya next time Ramblers x
