So I thought I might start writing some random posts about my life and share in the journey of my health. As a lot of you would know, I’ve had a lot of health issues over the time and more recently was diagnosed with Spondyloarthritis an autoimmune inflammatory disease. What can I say? I love to keep my mum on her toes…since I was a little kid I was the one who got the weird sicknesses, like say Scarlet Fever and Kawasaki disease along with Infantile Asthma and burst ear drums…now it seems my bodies goal is to collect as many chronic illnesses as it can lol. The list is ever growing 😅🤷🏻‍♀️

Anywho, I had a tilt table test (yes it’s what it sounds like, you are strapped to a bed and the bed is then tilted up into a standing position) at the hospital today… and can I just say, who knew one could be so relieved that you nearly passed out during a test! Sounds weird to say…but I am 🤷🏻‍♀️. But because of this, I finally got some results as to why I’m constantly in state of lightheadedness or have fainting episodes. Apparently, my passing out episodes is because my blood pressure drops pretty rapidly (the systolic one dropped from 130 (which is a decent number) down to 70 in a matter of seconds), something to do with blood pooling and my body not being able to balance it out…so then my heart rate shoots up, in this instance it went to 168bpm (my normal is around 100-110bpm due to a heart condition I have). So in this test I showed a mixed type reaction (meaning blood pressure and heart rate being affected whilst standing up). There’s a fancy name called Vasovagal (Neurocardiogenic) Syndrome, which just means I like to faint coz my body wants to lol. Now I just have to wait and see what my heart specialist wants to do and how we can reduce these episodes.

So even though I currently feel really lousy and have a headache from the medicine they used to help trigger it, I’m relieved something showed up, since sometimes you just feel like you are going crazy. But I have to say it was amusing when mum mum said I looked like Hannibal Lecter strapped to a table (coz I had to wear a mask as well)…mums, amiright? 😂😘
